I've never thought of myself as truly British, but as I have the passport:
They fought on the right side in WW2 despite the inevitable cost.
If you steer clear of certain crap bits and don't expect great weather, it's a top place for a holiday.
They gave the world football.
The industrial revolution.
There's loads of stuff if you can get past colonialism and slavery.

The NHS and social.care system.
Mum.has just recently had to go into a home through ill health after spending a month in hospital. Her care has been amazing dont know what we'd have done without it..
